1. Setting up Postscript on Checkify+

To begin the setup, it is important to get a Private Key and a Keyword from your Postscript account.

  1. Register and log into your Postscript dashboard.

  2. Navigate to your Account API page to get your API Key (Private Key).

If you already have one generated, click "Show" button and copy the key. If you do not have a key yet, click "Create Security Key Pair" button, then click "Show" button and copy the key.

3. In the Keywords section, create a new keyword or pick the existing one that you want to use for tracking opt-ins from this source. Then copy your Keyword.

4. Select OPT IN and create whatever REPLY you want, i.e. what you want customers to get back when they sign up.

Once you have your Private Key and Keyword, go through the following steps:

  1. Click on "Connect +" button within the appropriate tab to start the integration.

  2. Paste your Private Key and Keyword in the appropriate fields.

  3. Click on "Connect +" in the bottom right corner of the screen (slider).

  4. The Postscript integration becomes Active.

2. Events by Checkify

Checkify sends two events to the platform, similarly to other buyer retention and recovery integrations: Checkify - StartedCheckout and Checkify - FinishedCheckout.

Therefore, it is possible to create various automation flows on Postscript, for example, those aimed at abandoned carts (checkouts) recovery.

In order to start working with flows and automations it is necessary to have:

  • an active and enabled integration with Postscript;

  • at least one initiated Checkify checkout;

  • at least one completed Checkify checkout (placed order).

If you are yet to receive any orders, it will not be possible to set up and launch flows due to lack of data.

It is possible to design the automation using the trigger events or properties available:

Some time should pass between the trigger (event) and the purchase check. For instance, platforms like Shopify create an Abandoned cart event after 30 minutes.

If you do not check and set up a time delay properly, ALL the subscribed customers may start getting abandoned cart notifications, even if their purchase is complete. It is wrong and not user-friendly.

Therefore, we recommend adding a time delay (usually within 10…30 minutes, but could be of any reasonable value) to the trigger.

Checkify sends a number of variables which can be used in automated messages to buyers:

The following variables are available and are being transferred for Checkify -StartedCheckout trigger (event):

{
"abandonedCheckoutURL"/ The link to an unfinished checkout page
"currency" / Currency code
"value" / Basket's subtotal
}

3. Text messaging compliance

All the subscribers added will be required to confirm they have opted in to receive recurring automated messages. If a subscriber does not confirm, then they are not added to a merchant's subscriber list.

The first confirmation is on the checkout page:

The second confirmation is by an incoming SMS:

4. Common questions

πŸ™‹ What are my costs?

The integration with Checkify is free. Your subscription fee covers it. However, there may be some costs on Postscript's side.

πŸ™‹ My customer does not receive an SMS. Why?

It can be explained by deliverability. Postscript actually sends to subscribers located in Australia, Canada, the USA as well in the UK. There are specifics in reaching customers in the UK and Australia, so it is advisable to contact the Postscript team directly for more information.

πŸ™‹ Can I test Postscript with buyers from other countries?

Surely, you can. However, according to Postscript's international sending FAQ, the deliverability is not guaranteed "due to the many carriers and the restrictions that they have in place". You may review their site and Help Center for more details.
