Localize the custom checkout by Checkify+ to make it suitable for global and international sales. You can translate your checkout and Thank You pages into one of these 70+ languages with the auto-translation feature. In addition, Checkify+ supports manual translation for any language that is not yet covered by automatic translations engine.
1. Choose the base language
To manage the default language for your checkout, visit the Localization section of your Checkify+ admin.
Choose the language in the Language choice drop-down menu.
If you choose a language marked for auto-translation, all the fields will be translated automatically. If there is no auto-translation available for your preferred language, all the fields will switch to English, and you will need to fill them out manually.
For example, we do not provide an automatic translation for Faroese, so, if you live in the Faroe Islands and want to target native speakers exclusively, you will have to translate the fields manually. If you are targeting a global audience, using English as the default language along with one of the automatic translation options should cover most cases.
2. Set up the checkout translation
To translate your checkout:
Choose the language from the list. Then, give it a couple of seconds to change all the fields.
Check that the page status is set to "Enabled".
Save changes (if any).

3. Customize your translation
You can manually customize the wording in any language (including English). For example, if the auto-translation sounds too official, in your view, you can customize fields to match communication style of your brand.
You can add emojis to the text fields to express your creativity.
Example: Emojis added in the admin (left image) appear accordingly on the Checkify checkout page (right image)
4. Automatic translations
It is possible to enable automatic translation feature in Localization section of the admin.
Checkify+ provides two options:
Automatic translation by country's IP address. This is useful when you are selling to countries with one dominant language, such as France, Italy, etc.
Automatic translation based on the language of a device being used. This is useful when you are selling to countries with multiple languages, such as Canada, Switzerland, etc.
Example: Detection and auto translation to Italian
Example: Detection and auto translation to Swedish
At the same time, you can customize each language individually in the Localization section. In this case, auto translation will use custom text data in the first place.
Elements like PayPal button or Stripe's payment element UI are not translated via Checkify+. Their language is determined primarily by customer's network and / or system settings. For example, Stripe detects the locale of the browser.
You can enable "auto translate by IP" option on Checkify+ and then use different VPNs, or ask friends or colleagues residing in other country for a quick test. You will get different results for the two mentioned elements.
Therefore, after customizing your non-core languages, we strongly recommend that you check and activate your base language for the checkout, as described in the opening sections of this article.
β
The base (default and primary) language will be used if the buyer's language could not be determined.
5. Common questions
π Do I need third-party apps to use emojis?
No, you can add emojis directly in the checkout fields.
π I translated a field, but it did not appear on the checkout.
Check the layout without translation. If the field is absent in the original version, it is probably unavailable in the current layout.
π I have just translated an element manually, but it is still in English.
If you translated a field manually, but it is still in English, it might be connected to a new update. Make sure you set the status of your translation to "Enabled" and retry. In case of issues, contact us via support chats or [email protected].
π I want to translate PayPal button on my checkout
Elements like PayPal button or Stripe's payment element (cards) are not translated via Checkify+. Their language is usually determined by the network settings (IP geo location). It may mean that your buyers will likely see the elements in the language they understand, like and use without any additional actions required from any of the sides. It's better to still check and enable the auto translate settings on Checkify+ and to test a variety of scenarios, especially, for an eComm business oriented at several countries with different languages. Engage a friend or a colleague living in different countries for a quick check. Alternatively, test with a VPN.
